Discover and Share your Thanksgiving Spirit with Capitol City Homes
The weather is cooling, the leaves are falling, and it’s time to start giving thanks for our harvests! Capitol City Homes is proud to give back throughout the year by sponsoring, donating, and hosting fundraising events because we know how much our support impacts our communities. We believe that helping families realize their potential extends beyond building exceptional homes, it’s a responsibility that we share with our homeowners to reach out to surrounding communities and provide a better quality of life for our Triangle-area neighbors. This year, we hope to help you tap into your spirit of giving as a way of being thankful and grateful.
Giving doesn’t need to be big. It could be as simple as helping your neighbors rake leaves and hanging outdoor holiday decorations or baby-sitting to allow your neighboring parents to go gift-shopping without curious little ones tagging along. Consider starting a rotating kid’s night with other parents in your new home community to eliminate the cost of childcare! Lend your leaf blower or ladder to your neighbor to get their seasonal chores accomplished, or your cake-pan or folding table for their holiday get-together. You can also keep an eye out for packages left on the porch and discuss safe places to stow bags and boxes should a neighbor not be home at the time of delivery.
Spend a few hours (or a few dollars) helping your local non-profit organizations as this is the busiest time of year for fundraising and collecting donations. Check out your local senior centers to find out when and where you can volunteer your time, or what supplies and necessities they have on their wish-lists. Animal shelters are another great option when it comes to giving! Stock up on dog and cat food, warm blankets, beds, flea and tick medicines, or chew toys for our furry friends. Your local farms and nurseries may also have volunteer days for which you can sign up. Most of North Carolina’s botanical nurseries and co-op farms need extra hands to water the exotic plants or put together share baskets of produce for subscribers.
Baking homemade goodies during the holiday season is another wonderful giving tradition. Whip up a few family-favorite recipes in your Capitol City Home kitchen and deliver some cheer to friends and neighbors! This year, consider giving out themed gift boxes such as a “movie night box” with sealed packages of popcorn, candy bars, and your favorite holiday DVD. You can also get creative with a “hot-chocolate box” featuring hot cocoa, locally potted mugs, flavored stir-sticks, and s’mores ingredients, or even a “soup box” with your favorite cold-weather soup mix, handmade soup bowls, and delectable crackers. The possibilities are endless and can be customized to the recipient!
Capitol City Homes is happy to share our thanks with you and hope that our giving spirit becomes contagious throughout our communities. Make some time to connect with and help your neighbors, find something (and someone) to be grateful for, and Imagine Life Inside of your local community. Once you’ve found your giving spirit, be thankful and share it!
